How to find a job? A practical guide to the labor market

Finding a job that will match our qualifications and ambitions is not an easy task. Not only do we need to find a company that is currently recruiting for the position we have chosen, but also prepare for all stages of the recruitment process. How to get through them successfully and get your dream job? Here are some tips!

Where to look for a job?

Before we send your CV and cover letter, we need to find the company we want to work for. There are many ways to find the right offer. You can browse local newspapers, social networks, search for job vacancies directly on the websites of large corporations or on specialized websites. We will find there current offers from all over Poland and from almost all industries on the labor market. We found an advertisement – what next?

When we have already found a specific advertisement for recruitment for the position that interests us, it is worth checking whether our qualifications and professional experience comply with the employer’s requirements. If so, we can start writing a CV and a cover letter. It must be remembered that often people dealing with recruitment have little time, and there are many offers from potential employees. In order for our CV to not go unnoticed among the pile of similar documents, it is necessary to make it stand out among others – it is specific and transparent. We should write a CV and a cover letter in terms of the job offer we are interested in. You should list your previous positions and professional skills, which are particularly important for the job you are applying for.
It is always worth mentioning the scope of duties that we have performed in previous positions, but do not write too much, but rather focus only on the most important elements of our professional experience. Our character traits will also be important, which can be an asset in a new job – e.g. the ability to work under time pressure, punctuality, etc. The transparent layout of the CV is important, as it will emphasize, not dominate, the content. The same applies to a cover letter, which should clearly and concisely state why we are the best candidates for a given position, without forgetting the formal nature of the letter. Please use salutation phrases and sign both documents, i.e. the cover letter and your CV. It is also very important to place consent to data processing for the needs of current and future recruitment. Otherwise, company representatives will not be able to contact us.

Job interview – how to prepare for it?

If we have successfully passed the initial selection and received an invitation to an interview, we can be proud of ourselves. This means that we meet the criteria set for potential candidates. This is the most important stage of recruitment. The conversation usually lasts a few or a dozen minutes, so we must use this time well and present ourselves from the best side. However, keep in mind that preparing for an interview does not mean learning a monologue about yourself. We should, of course, briefly tell our professional history, but also be open to the recruiter’s questions.

Good luck with finding your dream job!
